News and notes about recent enquiries or research finds........

Please contact the Group's co-ordinator with comments about the site, enquiries about your Seago family or share any finds you come across that relate to the name Seago.

Mike's Notes:   I have spent a few days updating and editing the web site pages. It seemed the right time to rename the web site the 'Seago Family History Collection - UK' to reflect the reality that the data collection and indexes undergo little change, with only minor changes and additions every now and then. Nor would it be true to describe the current web site as the product of a group of people. It now reflects a fairly comprehensive collection of data and indexes about the name Seago which needs to kept in the public domain - ie. on the www.

The pages listing births, marriages and deaths have been updated and will show the increasing number of entries linked to specific family trees. Some family tree references have been changed and revised over the years to reflect newly found links between family groups and extended families.

Over the past few years there has been between fifteen and  twenty new contacts per year from people newly researching their Seago origins.  It is nice to know that people find the web site extremely useful and I am nearly always able to offer useful information to help their researches. Several contact or enquiries are from the USA, who are always told that the collection predominately covers Seagos from the UK. Despite suggesting that someone in the USA should start and host a 'Seago - USA' web site, no one yet has volunteered.

Recent Contacts:

Thelma Shephard recently contacted us about her her grandfather Walter Seago b.1890 and her uncle Walter William Seago b.1911. Her uncle lost his life in WWII and has a grave/memorial in Florence, Italy. Through an exchange of information we were able to add detail to the EG-1 family tree that details Seagos living around Sidestrand and South Repps in Norfolk for the last 200 years.

Earlier in the year Victoria Williams kindly provided a scanned copy of the marriage of Doris Hilda Sago b.1914  (SK154) to Walter Hart in 1934. Victoria is researching families in Suffolk. The SK family tree includes the majority of those people with the surname SAGO.

Sam Attwell contacted me in May after seeing a picture of the grave of Bryden George Seago on the web site. Bryden was Sam's great uncle and was killed in WWII whilst on a bombing raid. A web site to Bryden's memory can be found at  http://www.brydenseagoe.com/  and this tells the story of the events leading up to his death. The 'Bryden George Seagoe' web site is published by Ash Tomas and was researched by his uncle, Rod Thomas.
