Pub. George Wall - 1874. DOC03 mention is made of a number of Seagoes' on page 234. Margaret
Seagoe = John Fisher (approx. 1720) Sampson Seagoe voted in
Astley and DeGray, NFK, election 1714. William Seagoe voted in the same
election and was married to Mary (d.1733 aged 49). Richard Seagoe, a
master mariner, voted in 1754 for Walpole and Townshend. Married Clementina (d.1770 aged
59). Benjamin Seagoe compelled Yarmouth Corporation, by Mandamus, to
admit his freedom in 1740.
- 1728 SAMPSON SEAGO - Death of; MEMORIAM - `Here
resteth the Body of Sampson Seagoe / of Yarmouth master mariner / who died September 20th
/ Anno 1728 Aged 39 years' [probably YM30]
- 1734 Norfolk Poll register book. Robert
Seagoe of Repps in the district of Repps North and South.
- 1738 - Margaret SEAGOE (nee Wilson) was transported
to Virginia, USA after being sentenced at Middlesex Sessions of Goal Delivery -
transported on the ship 'Dorsetshire' Captain John Whiting, sailed January 1739.

- 1752 - Armed robber transported to America - John SAGO a
convicted armed robber was transported to America on the ship 'Tryal', Captain John
Johnson, which sailed in August 1752. References: the book 'The King's Passengers to
Maryland and Virginia' by Peter Wilson Coldham, 1997, ISBN 1-800-876-6103 and 'English
Convicts in Colonial America' by P. W. Coldham, Volume 1 1617-1775 [ref: SAGO John, S
May-June T Aug 1752 Tryal]
The Middlesex Sessions Court parchment records for June 1752 [GLRO
ref: MJ/SR 2984, folio 48 & 50] show the indictment, which reads: 'John Sago late
of the parish of Isleworth, otherwise Thistleworth, in the County of Middlesex, Labourer,
on the nineteenth day of May in the twentyfifth year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lord George the King of Great Britain, in this parish aforesaid in
the County aforesaid, with force and arms, to wit with a certain Pistol loaded with
gunpowder and leaden slugs, which the said John Sago in his right said thou and there and
hold in and upon us Thomas Burton Milburn in the peace of God and our said Lord the King
thou and there being unlawfully maliciously and feloniously did make an assault with
felonious intent the monies of the said Thomas Burton Milburn
from the person against the will of him, the said Thomas Burton Milburn, thou and
there felonious to steal, take and carry away against the statute in such case made and
provided and against the peace of our Lord the King, his crown and dignity.' [apologies
for any inaccuracies in recording].

- 1800-1807 Norfolk Wesleyan Circuit Members books (photocopies at
NFHS) list Seago's among their South Repps members. These include: William and
Elizabeth, William, Ann, and Mary Ann, Edward. Also; John & Eliz. Seago among
their 1802 Norwich 8th class members.
- 1814 - Norfolk Assizes Court. (NRO mf660/5 also Norfolk Chronicle
newspaper) 26th March, John Seagoe was sentenced to 7 years
transportation for stealing at Stoke Holy Cross.

- 1828 Charles Sago, a sailor from the Ship 'Aurora',
was sentenced to death at the Old Bailey (London), which was later computed to
transportation to Australia as a convict. In Australia, Charles was set to work, but later
was freed. (information from - Mrs Betty Joyner in Australia) - Note: see also the table

- 1832-3 ELECTORAL REGISTER FOR NORFOLK EAST
No 2119 William Seago - of Southrepps - for the Hundred of North
Erpingham, as an occupier of houses, buildings and land of rental of £100 per annum.

Seago Thomas, [SE30] and Seago Wm. [SE32] of Bergh
Apton, Clavering Hundred both voted for Horatio William Walpole and Edmund
Wodehouse....... also;
Seago Wm., South Repps, North Erpingham Hundred, voted for William Howe
Windham and Richard Hanbury Gurney.

- 1837 - Norfolk Assizes Court. (NRO mf660/5) 18th August,
William Seago, aged 24 yrs (48yrs in index?), held at Norwich Castle, was
sentenced to 7 years transportation for larceny.
- 1838 - Norfolk Assizes Court. (NRO mf660/5) 5th March, John
Sager aged 17 years, together with William Sparkhall were convicted of larceny.
John Sager was sentenced to imprisoned at Swaffam Bridewell prison.

- 1845 WHITES HISTORY, GAZETTEER, DIRECTORY OF NORFOLK. lists....

- 1845 A William SEAGO (b.1826) [SG42] was issued a
'fisherman's ticket' at Yarmouth on 8th May 1945. The Ticket Register number was
123,866. The information on the register entry tells us William was aged 19 years (born
21st Jan 1826 at Stockton, NFK), was 5'7" tall, had light brown hair, a 'fresh'
complexion and grey eyes. He could not write. His place of residence was given as Aldeby.
One 'voyage' was recorded for 1846.
- 1848 A William SEAGO (b.1830) [SJ52] was issued a
'fisherman's ticket' at Yarmouth on 15th Aug 1948. The Ticket Register number was
414,674. The information on the register entry tells us William was aged 18 years (born
7th March 1830 at Beccles), was 5'6" tall, had light brown hair, a 'fair' complexion
and dark grey eyes. He could write. His place of residence was given as Beccles. No
'voyages' were recorded against his name.
- 1851 A 'Seagoe Yard' is shown to
exist in the 1851 census in Tottenham, Middlesex. off of the High Street. Two
families live in dwellings located in this yard. The census reference is piece
HO107/1702/folio 301. In a house close-by, a Robert James Seagoe
and his wife Frances live. Robert is aged 74 and is a retired carpenter.... he dies later
that year. It seems reasonable to suggest, that the Yards name must have
something to do with this Robert James Seago............?

- 1854 William SAGO, aged 30 years, an immigrant to
Victoria, Australia, June 1854 - aboard the ship 'Golden Era' [Code B fiche 068, page 4]

- 1862 James Seago - entry in Wynondham Police Charge
Book 1850-1866 (copy at NFHS), entry number 734. In custody November 9th 1862,
James Seago of Tibbenham, a labourer. Aged 25 years, height 5ft 5inches, could not read or
write. Charge: 'Leaving his employment'. Person charging: Robert Flint of Mosley St Peter,
a machine man. Arresting Officer: PC Bowes. Magistrate: W R Cann Esq,
remanded James to Norwich Castle goal until Tuesday the 11th November.
- 1872 - in the book 'Methodism and the Revolt of the Field', by Nigel
Scotland, there is mention of an article in the 'Norfolk Argus' newspaper about a Thomas
Seago. (we have not seen the article ourselves)

- 1879 John SAGER, aged 24, a Mill Worker, immigrant to New York, USA
aboard the ship ' SS Abyssinia' from Liverpool, England. - arriving Mar 1879 (WWW. )
- 1881 Census error - the persons named SEAGO shown living in
Cirencester, Gloucestershire, have in-fact the surname TEAGO. The error occurred
during transcription.
- 1883 reported in the North Eastern Daily Gazette
on 20 November 1883, under the headline 'West Hartlepool - Sudden Death' it says ' This
morning Mr Isaac SEAGO, who has for many years acted in the capacity of traveller
to Messrs Rickinson and |Son the Spirits Merchants and was well known and respected in the
district, died suddenly at his residence at Stranton. The deceased who was aged between 50
and 60 had been ailing for some time, but was engaged in his business the whole of
Monday.'

1910 - died London 19th January 1974. [SH31 b.1910]
- 1929 "Mr. John
Sago. In 1929, Mr. John Sago - a deacon since 1910 - died after a long illness.
He was a real stalwart, and although not an accomplished speaker, nevertheless inspired
many by the simplicity of his belief and his devotion to the cause. When in health he
never missed a service. He bequeathed f:20 to the Church of which he had been a member
since 1873, a period of 56 years. Mrs Sago, who died in 1917, was made a member at the
same time as her husband, during Rev. Jackson's Ministry, and was also a regular and
faithful communicant."

- 1930 "The manual fire engine was
adapted to be towed by a lorry and the Council considered purchasing a second hand steamer
from Lowestoft for £20 and purchasing a motor fire engine. Eventually they decided to
obtain a Merryweather Hatfield trailer pump in 1937, which was towed by SAGO's coal lorry.
The Sago family were firm supporters of the Fire Brigade from 1930 up to the war years.
Involved in Halesworth Fire Brigade from 1930 - L.H. Sago, R.G. Sago, W.C. Sago
Jun."

daughter Michelle would like to thank the relative and friends of Dorothy who sent cards
and to all those who attended the funeral, to Rev. S Clark for a lovely
